Sample Website Review
Website Reviewed: http://www.helloeco.com

THE GOOD:
- I like the clean layout and homepage slideshow.
- Good integration of the shopping cart
THE NOT SO GOOD:
- PAGE TITLE - All pages of the site have the exact same Page Title. This is the most important SEO keyword phrase to identify the uniqueness of each page. Having the same Title will hurt the Google PageRank for the entire site.
- META KEYWORDS - Google stopped using Meta Keywords 6 years ago, so there is no need to spend time or money adding keywords. They have also added 2'x more keywords than recommended by Google, when Google was looking at keywords. The sites uses the exact same keywords on every page. This is in violation of Google standards. Page Title, Meta Descriptions and Keywords should ALL be unique on each page, and represent the content in the page. Using words in these areas that are not also in the body of the page is considered SPAMMING the search engines, and will hurt your Google PageRank.
- META DESCRIPTION - Is the same on every page. Should be unique.
- http://validator.w3.org - Reviewed http://validator.w3.org/ for programming errors: 32 errors on the homepage. Google Wants all websites to adhere to current standards.
- Main menus are graphic images. Better SEO to have linked text than linked images. Also, having images as navigation means you must pay a graphic designer every time you want to add, remove or reposition menus.
- Drop Down Menus - drop down menus are more difficult to navigate than main menus with sub-menu. For a while you saw many sites with drop down and pop out menus, but now there are fewer.
- ALT Text - The entire site is missing Alt Text on images. This is a BIG SEO feature that is missing. This also violates www.w3c.org standards.
- HTML Pages - other than 1 submission form, the entire site is plain Html. This means there is not content management system for the owner of the site to make changes. They must pay their webmaster for all changes to the site.
- Missing H1 tags - H1 tags should be applied to the title of the page, in the body of the area of the page. H1 tags on page title phrases tell all search engines the most important keywords on the page. The site is also missing H2 tags.
- https://www.helloeco.com/franchise_opportunities_steps.htm - the video on the side column of this page is not embedded in the page. This means the video must be fully downloaded before it can be viewed. It also mean the visitors computer must use its own player to play the video. Many people have no clue what a default player is. They also don't want to download files to their computer or wait for the download, and launch of a local application, to view the video.
- http://www.helloeco.com/locator.php - I entered my zip code, 93105 and was not able to locate any franchises in the USA.
- Missing Blog - a blog is the easiest way to inform visitors of news related to your products, and to attract traffic from search engines. This site is missing a blog.
- Not sure why they have a car on the homepage. Are they selling cars?
- Homepage has Googe PageRank of 2 out of a possible 10. Of the 20 pages in their main site, only 2 pages had PageRank. The 2nd page only had a PageRank of 1/10.
- http://www.helloeco.com/franchisee/92008/ - the "LINKS" menu in the side column has a broken link. Kind of ironic.
- http://www.helloeco.com/franchisee/92008/ - Looks like each franchisee gets 1 page, with their Zip Code, in the URL, as their homepage
- http://www.helloeco.com/franchisee/92008/ - All menu links in the footer are broken on Franchisee pages.
- I could not find a way to purchase products from a Franchisee, only from the Franchisor. What's the value to the Franchisee for being on the site if I can't purchase products from them in my local area?
- http://www.helloeco.com//franchisee/94583/ - The sitemap page has this link as a franchisee, but there is no information on the page.
